The Valencia Tourist Office presents ‘Tour of Spain’ a taste of Spain in London’s Regent street.

On September 3rd The Department of Tourism participated with Turespaña, in presenting the ‘Tour of Spain ‘festival in Regent Street, one of the main shopping streets of London, near Oxford Street and close to Piccadilly Circus. The street was closed to traffic to accommodate a tourist office sample of Valencia, along with the rest of Spain.

Cars, taxis and buses were replaced by a sandy beach in Benidorm. The area was converted into a beach with sun and umbrellas, so as to enjoy the luxury of the beaches of Valencia in the city of London.

In the streets of London, the Ministry of Tourism organized the presentation with the prestigious chef Galbis, who was promoting the presentation with, two giant Valencia paellas for 500 people each.

Councillor for Tourism, Milagrosa Martinez, led the celebration of British tourism to Valencia, the first foreign tourist source market to the Region with a 44.7% share of total and more than 2.2 million tourists a year.

There was an information point in Regents Street providing tourist information for those interested in tourism in Alicante, Castellon and Valencia. There were with brochures and publications available in English. Providing details of the cuisine, golf, water sports, beaches, trips to the interior. All the tourism products of the Region were present at this information point.

300,000 people visited this popular festival that has become a perfect showcase to display the destination diversity of the Region, its attractions so valued by foreign tourists and especially for British tourists, and the creativity and social innovation Valencia.

The London public enjoyed the little taste of Valencia, well known for the cuisine of the three provinces. This was represented by a universal dish like paella, and they could walk on and lie on its sandy beaches and were surrounded by orange trees, other universal symbols of the Region.

The Government conducted numerous activities in the British market and participated in major trade fairs. “We recently presented our place in the British Open Golf, and conducted numerous familiarization trips for the media so that your readers can obtain a picture of the Region through our tour operators, so they can see perfectly the product they sell in their catalogues and expand our presence” said the Councillor.

“The originality of this Festival, has resulted in an enjoyable and entertaining day for Londoners, hoping that they are attracted to our tourist destinations,” pointed out Milagrosa Martinez.
