Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival
PALM BEACH, FL — What do James Beard Award winners’ Daniel Boulud, David Burke, Michelle Bernstein, Michael Schwartz and Stephen Stryjewski, Esquire columnist, author and renowned restaurant critic John Mariani, and Food Network stars Ingrid Hoffman and Scott Conant all have in common? This crème de la crème of culinary talent are all traveling to and participating in the highly anticipated 5th Annual Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival, December 9 – 13, 2011, on the illustrious resort island playground of Palm Beach, Florida.
Since 2006 the Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival has been a singular tasting event hosted at 150 WORTH on Worth Avenue. This year, however, resulting from the perpetually sold-out status and increasing local talent, the fifth-year anniversary of the Festival includes a massive expansion of the programming, growing from the initial 3-hour Grand Tasting walk-around affair to a 5-day multi-location, celebrity chef extravaganza. Some of the events taking place will be at archetypal Palm Beach institutions such as The Four Seasons andThe Breakers. New partners of the Festival include the preeminent James Beard Foundation and local experiential site, Gilt City Miami. Renowned journalist John Mariani will serve as Honorary Chair.
“We are extremely excited about the lineup up of talent and programming at this year’s Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival. After five years of increasing attention and success, the 2011 Festival is an exponentially larger and more prominent culinary showcase. This will be a destination event for many people seeking not only an exceptional food and wine experience, but all the charms of Palm Beach as well,” explains festival organizer David Sabin, the man responsible for bringing this wealth of talent to Palm Beach. “It’s not often that you can find this kind of concentration of culinary talent so accessible.”
The new events taking place comprise a series of “Friends of James Beard Foundation” affairs, including the Beach Bash with Chef Michael Schwartz at Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach; An Evening with John Mariani at The Breakers Palm Beach; Cocktail Culture with Daniel at Café Boulud; and a Friends of James Beard Benefit Dinner with 2011 James Beard “Outstanding Chef: South” Award Winner Stephen Stryjewski, hosted at Palm Beach’s hottest new chef-driven restaurant, B?ccan.
The 5th Annual Grand Tasting finale — and its anticipated Grand Chef Throwdown Presented by Creekstone Farms Premium Black Angus Beef — will once again take place at 150 WORTH. Food Network’s Simply Delicioso host Ingrid Hoffmann will emcee this year’s Grand Chef Throwdown, alongside special celebrity judge Scott Conant, Food Network’s 24 Hour Restaurant Battle host and CHOPPED! judge.
Sabin adds, “The Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival is more than just an occasion to explore the world of food and wine pairing, this five-night affair offers an opportunity to mix and mingle with Palm Beach residents, friends, top chefs, restaurateurs and winemakers. Attended by the area’s most notable influencers and tastemakers, a limited amount of tickets will be available for purchase to ensure the quintessential Palm Beach experience.”
Throughout the Festival, Premier Beverage will pour from its extensive portfolio of fine wines and spirits. For the sponsors, the opportunities are enormous: five days of branding and exposure to 1500+ highly-influential, high-net worth, fashionable people socializing, networking, and enjoying a unique culinary experience in the ultimate Palm Beach environment. In addition to those mentioned above, other sponsors include Wusthof, Marketwire, Awe Talisman, Brickhouse PR, Dg Communications, Shamin Abas PR, New Epic Media, The Goodman Company and Swank Farms. The Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach is the generous 2011 host hotel.
The Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival is more than a gourmet tasting event: The Festival proudly raises funds that will benefit the James Beard Foundation and its mission to celebrate, nurture and preserve America’s diverse culinary heritage and future. Funds raised at Friends of James Beard Benefits are typically distributed in the following manner: 50 percent of the total net revenue is donated to the James Beard Foundation’s Educational programs, and 50 percent of the net revenue is donated to a local scholarship administered by the James Beard Foundation, established in names of the Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival and Beard Down South. The James Beard Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
