TROY — Troy Bike Rescue is relocating to a new headquarters in a building it recently bought from the city in North Troy.
The nonprofit group will pack up at 2 p.m. Saturday and move to the “Wheelhouse” at 3280 Sixth Ave. from its rented quarters at 51 Third St.
Andrew Lynn, co-founder of the group, said the move is a big change for the group, which is marking its 10th anniversary.
“We know we have a lot of support out there in the community,” Lynn said.
Due to the move, TBR has halted its twice-weekly bike maintenance clinics for two weeks until it has settled into its new home.
TBR will hold at caravan at 2 p.m. Saturday to move its shop contents to North Troy.
TBR bought the new location for $5,000 from the city, said Lynn. The larger space will permit TBR to expand its operations and hold youth programming.
TBR describes itself as “a collective of bicycle enthusiasts committed to removing bikes from the waste stream, and putting them back into use.”
As part of the move, TBR will hold its first fundraiser, Lynn said. The “blowout bike party event” will take place from 2 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, at the Sanctuary for Independent Media, 3361 Sixth Ave. A donation of $10 to $25 is requested.
Activities include: 2 to 4 p.m., bike rodeo for kids; 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., tours of new building; 3 p.m., silent art auction; 3 to 5 p.m., bike demos and fun events; 5:30 p.m., drinks and TBR trivia; 6 p.m., vegetarian/vegan dinner; 6:30 p.m., silent art auction ends; 7 p.m. raffle and auction winners; and 7:30 p.m., dessert and music.

The art for the auction is provided by local artists, Lynn said.
