Gwyneth’s cookbook
Would you buy it?
Gwyneth Paltrow is officially as famous for her skills behind the stove as she is in front of the camera.
The 38 year-old actress, who graces the June cover of Bon Appetit magazine, this month talks about her cookbook her eating styles and how she’s raising her two kids, Apple and Moses to eat well.
Her recently published cookbook “My Father’s Daughter” is filled with family recipes and pays tribute to Paltrow’s dad, Bruce, who passed away from oral cancer in 2002. She credits him with teaching her how to cook while cultivating her love for food.
She said that it was her father’s illness that sparked her to experiment with healthy cooking.
“Of course I couldn’t cure him, but I found that my body felt really good,” she said.
She’s no longer vegan – and doesn’t feel bad about it now. She said she just wants her kids to enjoy what they eat.
“Could I use some butter and cheese and eggs in my cooking without going down some kind of hippie shame spiral?” she wrote in her book. “Yes, I could.”
She’s the first to admit that her recipes aren’t particularly complex or groundbreaking.
“It’s how I think as a cook,” she says while slicing grilled chicken breasts on the bias, just like a catering chef. “I wouldn’t say I’m a very original thinker, but if I have a good experience with something, I’ll want to take it further or adapt it in some way. I’m not going to be doing molecular gastronomy; I’m a wife and a mom and a home cook.”
