Sonoma County’s Wine Road members offer unique vineyard experiences that run the gamut from relaxing to heart pounding. Visitors to this bucolic region, just one hour north of San Francisco, can experience an array of out-of-the-box explorations at wineries throughout the region. From ballooning to biking, there is plenty adventure to be had in Sonoma this summer.
Take a dip in Francis Ford Coppola’s pool
Francis Coppola wanted to create a place for families to come and enjoy all the best things in life together, which is why he placed two pools in the center of his new Francis Ford Coppola Winery. The pools opened this April and feature private changing rooms and showers, poolside food and drink service, a circular bar and café, and bocce courts. Visitors to the winery can also stop by the tasting room, dine at one of two restaurants, Rustic and Rosso Bianco, and tour the state-of-art-bottling facility.
Take in the sites on a helicopter ride with Hop Kiln Winery
Partnering with Sonoma Helicopter, Hop Kiln Winery provides visitors with a vineyard view that is unmatched. The helicopter tour circles Hop Kiln’s vineyards, Dry Creek Valley, Lake Sonoma, Alexander Valley, and the Russian River. The tour takes off and lands at a nearby airport, circles the winery, and features a wine and cheese tasting back at Hop Kiln.
Sipping and Cycling in Healdsburg
Spend the day enjoying the rolling hills of the Dry Creek Valley, cycling on country lanes, and visiting wineries with Gateway Adventure’s Sip N’ Cycle Healdsburg tour. This thrilling bike tour of Sonoma County allows visitors to experience wine tastings at vineyards such as Bella Vineyards Wine Caves, and spend the day biking through the grapevines.
Get high with a Balloon Ride and Champagne Brunch at Kendall-Jackson Winery
Up Away Ballooning glides its guests above picturesque grapevines and views of Sonoma County. Following the ride, a one-of-a-kind Champagne brunch awaits visitors at Kendall-Jackson Winery, including hand-crafted quiches, chocolate covered strawberries, fresh fruit, and local cheeses served amongst the vines at the estate.
